There will be a new Jensen in town. Jensen International Automotive currently modernise and update Jensen Interceptors with new engines, interiors and running gear – Restomods, apparently.
And luckily they offer a V6 or supercharged V8, but no battery/ motor combo. Good – leave that to BYD and their ilk.
But they are now taking a massive step into the unknown. Launching their own new Jensen International Automotive Interceptor GTX. A V8 Grand Tourer duw out in the middle of the year, in time for the 60th birthday of the original.
Here’s a quick recap of the Interceptor (from 1966-76). It was a steel bodied car with a huge curved glass rear screen hatch. They were fitted with a huge 6.3l Chrysler V8 but detuned to just 250HP. With that in mind they fitted 7.2l engines from 1971 onwards – just in time for the fuel crisis, sadly.
My favourite version was the FF (Ferguson Formula) in 1967 – a full time 4WD system. And to prove it was technically way ahead, it was also fitted with Dunlop Maxaret Anti-lock brakes (taken from planes). We had to wait until 1980 for Audi to poularise their Quattro system.
So for now you can order an updated, original Interceptor. But in the next few months, more details will emerge of the Interceptor GTX.
You can see a sneak preview on their website here.
I wish them all luck with this, but they are taking on a tough job doing this in 2026.
